Our Outfits

Our outfits adopt a common optimized modular platform, and use a single unit radius and trailing link solution providing the most efficient design of tying the sidecars loads directly back to the motorcycle, this together with the tubular structure assures the lightest and strongest possible solution. Lateral links ensure braking, accelerating, and cornering loads are all managed seamlessly between sidecar and motorcycle without fear of fatigue or stress failure.

Our unique suspension system combines active on-the-fly trim control to instantly adjust for road camber changes, whilst offering a cadillac feel ride to the passenger, and reduces lateral load imposed on the motorcycle. The ideal formular for sidecar lead, track width and lean out is assured based on the specific model of bike and riding style.

Our outfits include proportionally adjustable (to suit the payload) Brembo brake (optional). An on-board 12v air compressor that can be used for a multitude of applications, and LED lighting. All the features are maintained within an exceptionally light weight, coming in at under 170 lbs.

Our Adaptions

Personal experience has given us the advantage of understanding how important it is to have controls tailored to the riders needs. Not everyone has the physical attributes to manage OEM controls. At Scrambler Sidecars we ensure everyone has the opportunity to ride without compromise regardless of their physical disability / limitations.

Our Leading Links

Leading link (LL) forks are IMO by far the best way to reduce trail, and avoid the need for gorilla muscles to steer your outfit. Conventional and tele-lever forks with typical trail of 4" - 5" and with a typical tubing wall of just 1/16", whilst ideal for solo's, will endure enormous bending and twisting loads with any outfit, and may well fail at some stage. Our leading links reduce trail to between 1-1/2" - 2-1/2" reducing the steering effort and therefore bending and twisting loads on the forks.

Our LL's have the option of either fixed or floating brake calipers (eliminating rise under braking), easily replaceable / maintainable high strength heim rod end pivots, and choice of shocks. Best of all our LL's have adjustable trail by means of changeable pivot mounts. Trail amount is dependent on tire choice, outfit weight, type of riding and is therefore very unique to the clients needs. Too much trail means high effort and loads, too little trail means stability issues at speed.

Offroad capability is assured by the massive suspension travel afforded by the air bag system, generous ground clearance, and front and rear recovery points, with option receiver for trailers.

Best of all our outfits are fully customizable to suit client needs including: Passenger seating options, storage provision, fuel cell, auxiliary batters, custom lighting, winch, etc.

BMW tele-lever conversions require change-out of the upper tree bearing (self-aligning), and of course a rod ended strut to replace the shock.

All our LL's use DOM tubing, cold bent on our hydraulic bender, and are TIG welded on our build fixture to ensure trueness is assured.

Note: As motorcycles (most anyway) where not intended for sidecars, trail reduction is strongly recommended to allow ease of steering this can be achieved with our leading link forks, or our trail correction hardware design.
